The Health Benefits of Good Work (HBGW) is an initiative of the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (AFOEM) and The Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP). The initiative is based on evidence from both Australasian and international research which demonstrates that prolonged work absence, work disability and unemployment can adversely affect an individual's overall health and wellbeing.

ASORC is a member of both the HBGW Stakeholder Executive Group and the HBGW Australian Signatories Steering Group to contribute to the strategic direction for the implementation of the HBGW and integration of the HBGW policy agenda in the industry and health sectors.
The HBGW philosophy is well aligned to the profession of Rehabilitation Counselling. The profession of Rehabilitation Counselling is grounded in human rights, the value of work, and the importance of community integration for people living with disability and social disadvantage. ASORC proudly supports the HBGW initiative.
