This level of membership is open to applicants who do not meet the requirements for Full Membership of ASORC. This level of membership is time limited, with the understanding that the requirements for Full Membership will be fulfilled during this time. Note: the decision to recognise Associate Membership is made independently by each WorkCover Authority - please contact your state WorkCover Authority to confirm their requirements.
Criteria for Associate Membership
Associate Membership is open to applicants who have completed:
- an undergraduate (Bachelor) and postgraduate degree in Psychology or Behavioural Sciences OR
- an undergraduate (Bachelor) in Behavioural Science with a major in Rehabilitation Counselling OR
- an undergraduate (Bachelor) in Psychology (Honours) OR
- an unrelated undergraduate degree, with a Master or Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Counselling
Requirements for upgrade to Full Membership
To progress to Full Membership, Associate Members must:
- within 12 months of acceptance of membership as an Associate Member, enrol in and commence tertiary studies in Rehabilitation Counselling. This may be a Graduate Diploma or Master of Rehabilitation Counselling course, to be completed within a 6 year period;
- engage in the following supervision and mentoring programs to support the Associate member in the workplace;
- within 3 months of commencement of Associate membership must undertake the ASORC Professional Supervision Program (12 months)
and
- On completion of the enrolled course will participate in the ASORC Mentoring program (monthly for a total of 6 sessions).
Associate members who have already completed the Graduate Diploma in Rehabilitation Counselling or Master of Rehabilitation Counselling are only required to complete the Mentoring Program (2 b).
- complete the Associate Member CPD goal of 25 hours annually
