The Speaker
Dr Kar Loong Ng obtained his medical degree from the University of Adelaide in 2000. In 2009, he obtained a Graduate Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Management, followed by Specialist qualifications as an Occupational and Environmental Physician.
Dr Ng was awarded the Deane Southgate Award for the Highest National Score in the Fellowship examinations. In that same year, his average cost per workers compensation claim, compared to the SA average, was 22% for allied health costs, 27% for income maintenance, 46% for chemist costs and 67% for medical services cost. He had no lost time injuries during that year.
Dr Ng has work experience in the field of Emergency, Psychiatry, Drug and Alcohol,Prison Health and Disability Medicine (Disability SA / Strathmont).
Dr Ng has special interest in early workplace intervention, injury prevention, worksite assessment, medico-legal assessment and complex chronic injury management. Dr Ng is an accredited permanent impairment assessor for Return to Work SA, Comcare, Military Personnel, Motor Accident Injury Assessment Scheme and Northern Territory.
