Professor Elias Mpofu is a senior member on the academic staff in the Discipline of Rehabilitation Counselling at the University of Sydney, providing teaching, research, and service leadership to graduate programmes in rehabilitation counselling at that University. Formerly Professor of Rehabilitation Services at the Pennsylvania State University, Elias has an international reputation in the scholarship of teaching with service-learning, and research on community-oriented health interventions. His professional service leadership includes being a panel member of the Australian ICF Disability and Rehabilitation Research Program (AIDRRP), and International Representative of the US National Council of Rehabilitation Education. He published two edited textbooks in 2010 in which he worked with a multidisciplinary team of over a hundred researchers and practitioners in rehabilitation and community health to map over 500 widely used rehabilitation and health assessment instruments to the World Health Organisation's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF).
Elias is Editor of the Australian Journal of Rehabilitation Counselling (AJRC). He also serves on the editorial boards of several rehabilitation counselling related journals, including the Journal of Rehabilitation Administration, Rehabilitation Education, Rehabilitation Counselling Bulletin, Psychological Assessment, and the International Journal of Disability, Development and Education.
