Who was Trevor Hawkins?

In February 2011 the ASORC ® National Council voted that the name of the prize be changed to the ASORC ® Trevor Hawkins Prize, as part of our organisation’s plans to ensure that Trevor Hawkins’ contribution to the rehabilitation counselling profession is recognised and remembered by current and future graduates.

Trevor was one of the inaugural members of ASORC ®, a Life Member, and Program Director for Rehabilitation Counselling at the University of Sydney for many years. He will remain a towering figure in the Australian and international rehabilitation and academic communities. He will be remembered, honoured, and sorely missed by all who knew him.

Testimonial

"Studying gave me the opportunity to lift my head out of my familiar daily practices to explore the results of new data, studies and applications in rehabilitation practice across multiple industry sectors both nationally and internationally, well beyond my relatively small and highly regulated workers compensation industry experience. It has directly impacted both my work practise and engagement levels which I’m committed to retaining through ongoing learning and industry involvement... It is an honour to receive this award in his name." - Mark Gowland
